The following recipes have been shared with me by the fine folks at Lipton, so I pass them along to you as they look mighty tasty. I love when brands share out recipes for any event, and as per usual you can substitute your favorite brand of tea or brew your own into the recipes as you see fit. But I do say they all look mighty fine.

Cinnamon, Spice and Iced Tea

This recipe offers a tasty twist on a long-standing holiday drink tradition: grog. Spice up each cup by bringing together sweet-scented cinnamon and crisp apple cider.

TEA-SPICED GROG

6 servings

Prep time: 5 minutes     Stand time: 20 minutes

  • 2 bottles 100% Natural Lipton® Iced Tea with Lemon
  • 1 cup apple cider or apple juice
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Bring all ingredients to a boil over high heat in a 2-quart saucepan. Remove from heat and let stand 20 minutes. Strain out spices and serve warm. If desired, garnish with sliced apples.

TIP: For spiked grog, add 1/4 cup light rum or brandy.

A Sangria Recipe for All Seasons

This sangria recipe is a great go-to for get-togethers because you can mix it hours in advance, leaving you more time to mix with what matters-your guests.

BLACK TEA SANGRIA

6 servings

Prep time: 5 minutes     Chill time: 2 hours

  • 2 bottles 100% Natural Lipton® Iced Tea with Lemon
  • 1 cup unsweetened grape juice
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 small orange, sliced
  • 1 Gala apple, cored and sliced
  • 1 lime, sliced

Combine all ingredients in large pitcher. Chill at least 2 hours or until ready to serve.

TIP: For an adult version of this Sangria, use dry red wine instead of grape juice.

Also a huge plus to Lipton for realizing a good spiked drink is always welcome at Holiday celebrations. Let me know what you think of these tasty treats.

After being commisioned to cover an entire train station consisting of  8-bit artwork, Finnish artist Lars Arrhenius went to work. The Thorildsplan Tunnelbana station, a train station in Stockholm, Sweden, was redecoratred in 2008.

The entire station is covered in artwork inspired by early 1980′s Nintendo games. The artowrk consists of Dig Dug, Pacman, Super Mario Bros, and Legend of Zelda.

It is a quite the popular piece of artwork. It has even been used in a video. MadCraft, a punkpop band from Finland, used the creation as a backdrop for the music video for the song NeverAgain.

This year we are rocking out the traditional pumpkin shapes. With time being limited I would rather have two clean looking pumpkin ghouls. Not too shabby for 25 minutes per pumpkin. How do you throw down for all hallows eve?

I personally love making a tall steaming cup of coffee, chatting with the neighbors and dispensing sugary treats, how about you?

I wonder how the battle on Hoth would have turned out if the Empire had been rocking these sweet rides. No pesky flying ships trailing chains to trip up a lumbering machine.Christopher Aleria had a different idea of what a AT AT should be, and he used a Axial Rock Cralwer as the base for this one off.

What do you do with a gameboy that hasn’t been used in quite some time. You make a zombie, that’s what you do. And that is exactly what artist Donald Kennedy, an artist over at KodyKoala, did with his old gameboy. Other than the gameboy, he also used hands from a Iron Man Monger figure and feet from an Iron Man Mark I figure.

I love carving Pumpkins, and this is the time of year I get to show off my favorite designs. Now Pumpkins don’t always end up what they were intended to be. I started this pumpkin as a Cyclops, but as i started to do the eye ym Son yelled MIKE WAZOWSKI! and I had to go that route. This one took about 4 hours, start to finish. The only thing I was upset about was that Mike doesn’t have a nose, and I had already cut it out. That and the horns fell apart while I was cutting them. Oh well I still think it turned out pretty good. The eye is my favorite part.

Check out the slideshow of the whole process. I used a steak knife, an exacto blade, and a spoon. Not too shabby

Even though none of us here at Caffination are female, or wear any type of woman’s clothing, I thought these were a must see.

These were just a personal project. However, if they were to be sold at all, I’m sure the would be quite the hot item among the geeky girls.

With Halloween right around the corner, nothing gets the spirit going like carving a pumpkin. I know Paul is talented in carving a pumpkin, but I have not been granted that gift. However, nothing can beat the carvings by Ray Villafane, an artist for Villafane Studios. Some of his carvings are just amazing.

His work is extremely detailed. He has carved some scary looking pumpkins, as well as some portrait pumpkins such as the Predator, Chucky, and even David Letterman. On Monday, Ray was given the oppurtunity to carve away at 2 gigantic pumpkins, one being the world’s largest pumpkin weighing in at 1818.5 lbs.  So at the New York Botanical Garden, His artwork is on display. It is a carving of zombies bursting out of the pumpkin. What better way to celebrate Halloween.

Last year I started to carve a dragon, and messed up a bit. Put a hole in the other side of the pumpkin. Only one thing left to do when you mess up. Make it into something amazing. What dragon was bitten by a hole in the side of the mountain? None other than the chief of calmities Smaug.

This carving probably took about 15 or 20 hours to get it done right. And it more than a bit obtuse since all you can really see on the pictures is the Dragon. But I loved this.

If you’d like to see the rotation this video doesn’t really do a good job, but it works well enough.

And the rest of the gallery has the full story. I need to find inspiration for this year’s pumpkin. Not sure what road I’m going to go down, but I only have a week elft to figure it out. What are you carving?

Fantastic carving job

A carvered Pumpkin, the black speech. I dare not utter it here. But this is a flava flave style pendent if you were to try and wear it around your neck. What does it make invisible?

From the artist…

One pumpkin to scare them all

One pumpkin to find them

One pumpkin to bring them all

And in the darkness bind them

Generally fabulous on a day-to-day basis..

Anybody who has seen Tron, knows the best thing about the movie, other than the graphics, is the “Light Cycle.” Owning a bike that looks that good would cost you a pretty penny, $55,000 to be exact. You would find the gasoline powered “Light cycle” over at Hammacher Shlemmer.

The Tron bike was presented last year, after the release of “Tron: Legacy”. The creation of a real life Light Cycle came from Parker Brothers Custom Chopper. And yes, they are street-legal. The next challenge, is to make an Eco-friendly “Light Cycle.”

Challenge completed. Parker Brothers has accomplished making an electric “Light Cycle”, which coincides with the movie design, better than the gasoline powered bike. Powered by lithium batteries and a 96-volt electric motor, this beautiful creation is able to get a top speed of 100 mph. It is not street-legal at this point in time, but Parker Brothers are doing what they can to achieve that status. They warn you that it will not be able to be used for heavy duty purposes.

Are you a Rhythm Gamer? Guitar Hero god? Completed Physcobilly Freakout on iNSANE? nicely done. However real guitar players have long since derided these accomplishments as “button pushing” and other less savory terms.

File Rock Band, Guiatr Hero and Dance Dance Revolution into the same catagory. Follow instructions on a screen to get better in a very specific set of tasks. I love those games. I beat my friends who are much better dancers than I am in DDR, but it doesn’t translate to real life. And that has alway left gamers at a disadvantage.

Enter Rocksmith. A game where you plug your real guitar into your Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 or even your PC! It comes with a cord with a 1.4 inch jack on one hand and a USB jack on the other.

Siri is the new Apple personal assistant, voice recognition app. It can do so many things, and apparently one of them is comedy! Part of the challenge of designing software that reacts to people in real language is dealing with unexpected input. This isn’t a new problem, drop an F bomb in Zork, and you get the response “Such language in a high-class  establishment like this!” And Zork came out in 1979, people haven’t changed that much since then.

As soon as you can talk to a piece of software someone is going to curse, another is say dirty suggestive things. And apparently Siri has the response to all of it. Pop Culture references, Philosophical queries, foul requests. All of that can be found on the hilarious blog. Shit Siri Says. People submit conversations, and we all get to laugh.

But Siri, as a concept has never been far from Apple’s mind. For a bit of a jaw dropping experience take a look at one of the original concepts for a digital assistant, the  Knowledge Navigator.

When I found Buckyballs, a bunch of pebble sized balls made from rare earth magnets, it wasn’t long before I had to get it. And when I did, I had nothing but fun for weeks. And I still have fun to this day. Recently, the company who sells Buckyballs have brought out a new product, Buckycubes.

Buckycubes is made of the same material as the Buckballs, and is said to be just as fun, if not more. I just recently purchased the Buckycubes, so I haven’t had long to play with them. However, the short amount of time I have had, they are quite amusing to toy around with. For $24.99 at ThinkGeek, this really wasn’t a bad purchase.

Although it is too soon to say so, I think the Buckyballs are the best of them all. With the countless amount of shapes that can be made, the one challenge I have for myself to accomplish is to make the triforce out these cubes.
