By the Time this has been posted April Fools day will be almost over in the US, and take with it a bevy of silly and awesome pranks. I decided to give you a quick run down of the awesomeness that was, and tell a quick tale of my own. I’ll post in bold any Rick Rolls, I promise. Not know what a rick roll is? I posted on it once before, about a fine Gentleman recieveing the first ever In Real Life Rick Roll, but thats ancient history now. Now is the early spring day when people make merry, and some other complain. I look for victim less pranks here people.

The yearly Adopt a Newb day festival is nearly upon us. For those of you not intimately familiar with the concept I see it as a way for the Techy’s, the geek’s, and the nerds to try to help other people around us understand and accept technology more readily and feel more comfortable with it. So each April 15th i set aside time on my Podcast and ask others to spread the word themselves and Teach a Man to Tech. Pay your taxes, pay your dues and adopt a newb. (more…)

Consider this a Public service announcement, and a thread starter.

You all should know these things but sometimes they are better off written, read aloud, and repeated. I’ve codified three basic rules you should follow when posting online, if you value a harmonious existence. And despite what you may think not all people do. It takes courage to be divisive, to polarize or to pick a side. And more often than not standing by those guns will win you both favor with some and loose the respect of others. Some people can not take advice nor information from people who think differently than they do. All that being said, if you are online for the fun, if your a student using Facebook for a hoot or a mild mannered accountant just looking to reach out this article is for you. (more…)

The stories that didn’t quite make it into this CaffiNation all have a similar feel, and I hope that your all enjoying your Green Beer and Comfort food today as you celebrate St Patrick’s Day. And While we aren’t Dyeing rivers like they do in Chicago, and pictured in the photo, we are going to enjoy a nice green beer with dinner. We have had so many articles of late on Steampunk, and the design elements that make a good Steampunk piece. So I figured I’d take a step further back into my life and showcase another design aesthetic / culture, cyberpunk. Back in the mid 90’s I was introduced to a certain sub-genre of science fiction now know as Cyberpunk, through one of the forerunners of the genre William Gibson’s Nueromancer. Take the essence of punk music and the futureistic world of Issac Asimov and when you meld them together you get a bright and shining future of technolust with society degrading around it. A despair and a wonder all wrapped up in the same story.  Who is William Gibson? He invented the term Cyberspace, spawned a sub genre of fiction and started to build the framework for the cyberpunk aesthetic. He is also probably one of my favorite authors. (more…)
