No I’m not going to be doing this often. But the recent change in the air around me has prompted this. Shut yur computer off and go outside. Sit on your “stoop” talk to some neighbors. The beginning of spring is one of the most magical times of the year. Its when everyone steps away from their closed in houses and returns to the social world around you.

Open up the garage, play some good podsafe music. Listen to a podcast or two as you work on the garden. I know this is a bit preemptive and in some parts of the world its still quite nippy. But we are having our second really nice day in less than a week here in Philadelphia, and while its still going to get chilly this weekend. I can dream can’t I.

To Tide you over until tomorrow’s Form over Function Release I decided to provide you a fun Video to a great painting of Ray Charles. The Video is after the jump. (more…)

Did you feel it? The world just changed. Not as your reading it, but when this was written. Maybe you can still hear the echo, feel the aftershock. At 2:52 pm I received this message via twitter. “@cc_chapman: Sad. Gary Gygax the creator of Dungeons and Dragons has died at age 69 - http://tinyurl.com/32gltg - Now rolling natural 20’s in the sky” Than thats when I felt it. First off CC Chapman made a classic reference to the game Gygax helped spawn, well played CC. But the missive went on past that. It went past my twitter stream, and finally took root here, hours after the news had been delivered.

newton-virus-objectsq.jpg

This little guy is a design piece crafted by Troika for an installation in MoMA. The idea behind this little devil is that the device when placed into a mac, installs the newton virus on the machine. This is a truly outmoded type of virus in that its design is much more akin to a prank than the current crop of mercenary incarnations. (more…)

Its weird when you write something, and it moves beyond your words. I wrote a poem a while ago. Posted it here on CaffiNation.com, and ineedcoffee.com. The poem was picked up by the Syracuse Post standard and two of the staff writers made a slide presentation with it.

Its really weird hearing someone else say my words, but in a sense… validating. Just wanted to share. I wish I could embed the video in this post but it doesn’t seem to want to.

Poetry is a very personal thing. When I write even when I post, I never think of others ever reading them. I sort of just send the pieces off to live their lives.

dscf0007.jpg

It takes a really strange article or news item to make me sit up in my chair and take notice. Now when two of them cross my desk its time to draft a missive to the internet. And thats what your reading.

It seems these days like there is no shortage of art, and artists willing to not only push the envelope but rend it limb from limb. The crazy Steampunk designs have filled my imagination, and frankly provided excellent fodder for the podcast. But from time to time we see tech that goes beyond spiffy, that reaches past neat, to just plain weird. (more…)

In the future I’ll just shorten the title to DMTC then the episode number. The idea is that I find so many fantastic stories that I can no longer fit them in the Show, especially given that I’m trying to trim the footprint of the show down to a more manageable 30 - 35 minutes as opposed to 45-50 like we had been doing. Trimming the extra 10 minutes off my show somehow created an extra 30 minutes of time to spend with my family for the last show… so go figure.

On Today’s DMTC you’ll see information about Solar and Wind Power, IVF conception, Toast, and Bar Tabs

Let me know what you think of the format.  Stories After the Jump. (more…)
