The CaffiNation Podcast

Greetings,

Returning home from work today i had every intenton of starting the show right on time at roughly 10PM. However my body had other plans for me, and i think i should listen. I wasn’t feeling 100% all day something seemed just a bit off, without getting into the gory details I started to get a fever, chills in my 75F house. The whole thing started rapidly and the long story made short is I’m sitting under a fleece blanket right about now, longing for the sweet release of sleep. While I could soldier on, and I have in the past. I think the best thing for both my body and my family, and quite frankly your ears at this point is to bag the show for tonite. I’ll try again tomorrow, same bat channel and hope the feeling has past.

In the spirit of the Adopt a Newb Day 2008 celebration which is fast approaching I wanted to answer a frequent question I get asked . And I might ask the same of you. What do you get out of Social Media, and Social Networking sites, and how can they help my (insert podcast, blog, dairy farm)? It is a very valid question for the amount of time I spend on twitter, checking myspace, facebook and anything else where you can friend someone? It is a very valid question, and surprisingly it doesn’t have a simple answer. This article also sprung from a recent article by Chris Penn concerning the value of social networks when compared to choosing a school based on its name.

I’ve been asked that question several times this morning. Already the hoards of now de-CaffiNation’d people are mounting an offensive offensive, breaking down my inbox.

Admittedly I haven’t missed a show in a long time, And this one will just be late. I usually post a note stating that fact beforehand, but yesterday was a marathon. Suffice it to say that between working on the house yesterday, all day. And running around to see every family member who still lives within 25 miles yesterday, I was tired. More so than any coffee, pill, or caffeine IV could fix. We ran from 6am - 8pm. Counting church, 4 houses 5 meals and one very cranky baby by the end of the day. There was no gas left in the tank. So I beg your pardon and understanding in this matter.

So By the end of today you should have your caffeinated fix for the early part of this week and as always we’ll be back on schedule for Wednesday. Again a  thousan pardons

Its been good, these last two years, doing the CaffiNation Podcast. I’ve had fun and made friends. I can only hope to continue doing so for a very long time to come. Podcasting is about a lot of things, its about your topic, your audience, yourself and your family. But not in that order. (more…)

In case you didn’t figure it out yet, I needed to cancel the show for Sunday As I’ve been sick for a couple of days, and the last straw happened on Saturday … my throat is now scratchy, raw and red, not conducive to podcasting at all. I would normally make up this show but I wanted to point you back in the direction of This little gem, its the recording from Last weeks Tech Talk Live. And for those people who already asked my how I’m doing I’m doing much better now. My twitter account tells a sordid tale of a descent into damn near delirium. People my age are not supposed to have 103 degree (39.5 C) fevers, so I’m better now, and slowly clawing my way back to healthy. Thanks for your concern and your continued ear time.

Alright Dearest Listeners, Caffeinated Do-Gooders, Tech rats and Code Monkeys.

It seems mother nature has decided to put the kabash on my Podcasting productivity tonight. What started as feeling a might bit under the weather on Sunday night after my triumphant return from vacation without missing a show has blossomed into the dreaded summer cold. Its lovely and bright outside, yet you feel in a daze, sneezing and coughing. I even had the good sense to pass this bug onto my 10 month old son. Brilliant, as the Guinness spokes-toons say. So I must delay tonights show for one more day as I just need to count on some shut eye this evening.

Expect a fully featured an energized show for tomorrow evening. Until then I leave you with a couple of rather interesting articles I saw earlier today.

Hello there people, dear listeners and friends.

I assume you are all wondering why there is no show this morning. I can tell you that this has been one crazier than usual week. I don’t like excuses, so this won’t be one. There are several realities that happened this week. Work was a perfect storm of problems, and resolutions. It feels good to fix things and be recognized for your work but at the same time it gets under you skin when you know the problems could have been avoided.

Secondly on a personal note, my father went into the hospital on Wednesday night. Everything is fine so far and the doctors are working to figure out exactly what is wrong with him.

And finally last night. I had every intention of getting a truly bang up show put together. Despite being sick and loosing my voice periodically the past two weeks I have had energy to spare. Well last night after getting home from the hospital that energy ran out. I was reading mynews feeds and i passed out at the computer, for about a half hour. And this was 10:00, not even a respectable midnight showing. So for once I listened to my body and decided to actually go to sleep. I will try to get a show together for Friday or Saturday, and then again at our normal time on Sunday.

Thanks for you continued interest and support for the show. I need to get my rear end caffeinated.

Alright ladies and gentlemen listen close because we have a small announcement. Th CaffiNation Podcast has decided to migrate its location within your workweek to Thursday nights. Why you may ask? Well its a simple matter of logistics. No one likes Thursdays, and we are going to try and change that. To be honest for some reason Wednesdays are rough, some cosmic wind blows sets a head wind on the middle of the week. So I’m trying to make life a little smoother here and record on a day which always seems just a little bit easier. You will still get your twice weekly showing of the CaffiNation podcast but just a day later.
Now I’m not an unreasonable man, if there is a dramatic outpouring in support of a Wednesday show then we will stick with the tried and true. If you would like to give the new way a shot then email us on that count as well.

Also we are returning to the frequent blogging to keep you up to date with all of the fun and off beat happenings from around the web. So please tune in tomorrow to catch the full version of the Podcast, complete with our final word on our Media Center Experience.

Left in my tank that is. The long and the short of it is, was up really late last night working on the CaffiNation Headquarters. Then in a cruel twist of fate the daylight savings time change rendered my 3:00 am night into a 4 am night in the blink of an eye. Not the best way to start off you day when your planning on pulling a late one for a podcast. Stay tuned Monday evening for the further adventures of The CaffiNation Podcast.
