I’m going to give this concept a thought. Since I do so much graphic design that doesn’t ever speak to me I’m going to try and release one design a week, on Friday for your enjoyment. please be gentle some of these may be a bit raw, and unworked. First up is a great wallpaper I designed while listening to some fantastic Podsafe music called The Delicate Art of Noise Pollution, by one Henk de Kruyff. Henk is good people, and does some awesome musical work. Check out his Blog and Podcast here. Its not unusual that while I’m playing around with Photoshop the music starts to affect the work coming out. A little angry art never hurt anyone. But this was a smooth tone, that calmed a lot of the frustration I was having in coming up with a good piece. I’m still not sure if its done But I welcome any feedback people would like to give.

It takes a really strange article or news item to make me sit up in my chair and take notice. Now when two of them cross my desk its time to draft a missive to the internet. And thats what your reading.

It seems these days like there is no shortage of art, and artists willing to not only push the envelope but rend it limb from limb. The crazy Steampunk designs have filled my imagination, and frankly provided excellent fodder for the podcast. In the future I’ll just shorten the title to DMTC then the episode number. The idea is that I find so many fantastic stories that I can no longer fit them in the Show, especially given that I’m trying to trim the footprint of the show down to a more manageable 30 - 35 minutes as opposed to 45-50 like we had been doing. Trimming the extra 10 minutes off my show somehow created an extra 30 minutes of time to spend with my family for the last show… so go figure.

Today Tuesday 2/26/2008 Starbucks will be closing their stores from 5:30 PM - 8:30 pm. During that time Dunkin Donuts will be offering small coffee, latte and iced coffee for a measly .99 cents. So that no coffee lover goes without. They even have a new commercial aimed directly at starbucks.

Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, three corporate heavyweights have been engaging in a marketing slug fest for the past year. At times it seems like everyone is against Starbucks, and you’d be right. In business you don’t aim to beat number 2, you aim to topple number 1. And there is no bigger One in coffee than Starbucks.  Tattooing is a very old art form, the Ice Man Ötzi, had 57 tattoos and this Ice age rocker was alive 5300 years ago, give or take a year. I’m pretty sure Ötzi never could have imagined that all this time later tattooing could be on the cusp of a paradigm leap forward. How does Digital Tattooing sound to you? Well it might be an oversimplification. The entry into the Greener Gadgets Competition is actually a sub dermal implant, with a fuel cell that runs off your blood. Spend this Tax Day helping those with less Technological Know How-then yourself. Turn a negative infamous day into a positive experience for everyone.

The long and the short of this holiday are that I want all of those able minded Tech’s out there to set aside one day to work with someone less technologically fortunate than yourself and teach them a skill they will be able to use technology to its fullest. Keyboard shortcuts, smoother work flow, install firefox and walk them through it. Anything is fair game.
