Coffee is what fuels us, it is what powers so many things we do. I’ve shown this design before, and even printed out some fun giveaway posters. And of all of the things I’ve done this is one of my absolute favorites. I can think of no better story to throw down on National Coffee Day!

And now you can have that in your home. In the CaffiNation store we have a professional print available!

Sneakers are big business, and so is Star Wars. But do you the chops to actually buy and wear limited edition Wampa Fur Sneakers? Actually for 150 dollars you don’t get the finest in culled fur from long long ago, nor far far away. This is horsehair. With a fun Wampa logo, and a snide chuckle. This pretty much proves Lucas will sell almost anything.

The experiance of drinking tea is just as important as the taste. there is a ceremony involved in creating good tea, in enjoying it to its fullest. This product, dubbed Cuptea, by designer Lee Seo-jin brings all of that into one delightful package.

At this point just a design exercise but the product is both a disposable tea cup and an bag of tea. With both black and green tea shown I this is deffinitley a product i would love to have in my office drawer. Make the afternoon or mornign cup just that much more special.

Not sure when this came out but I love the idea. Starbucks has debuted a larger mug with a special coating on it. This coating, when written on with the included pen and baked in an oven becomes permanently marked with your words of wisdom, inspirational doodle or hilarious missive.

And honestly $14.95 for a 16oz mug, a spiffy 16 oz mug. Is not that bad of a deal. I’d love to see people send in their final creations. I just know there will be some jaw dropping artwork on these things.

Romain Jerome has done some funky stuff, but this is funky fresh.

Coming in two flavors the Space Invaders watch comes in full on color or authentic monochrome each to a limited run of 78 pieces each. this was done in homage to 1978 being the year that space invaders came out.

This watch is fused with actual pieces of the Apollo 11 capsule, and the space invader’s design is reminiscent of the moon lander with its four ball and socket joints at the corners. Talk about out of this world!

No word on price I could find, but it has pieces of the Apollo 11 inside… Iprobably can’t afford it. You might have a problem too. People who can afford this stuff have other people to read blogs for them, lets be honest here

When I first heard about EA Games bringing females hockey players to NHL 12, I immediately thought of Jimmy Dugan from ‘A League of Their Own’, “I don’t have ball players, I’ve got girls!” This will be a start of something new to all future sporting games.

The decision to put the female gender in the game comes after a girl wrote a letter to EA, telling them she felt it was unfair. Lexi Peters wrote, “It is unfair to women and girl hockey players around the world, many of them who play and enjoy your game.I have created a character of myself, except I have to be represented by a male and that’s not fun.” When the letter reached the desk of David Littman, NHL12 lead producer, he was fascinated with the idea. “Lexi’s letter was a wake-up call, here’s a growing audience playing our NHL game and we hadn’t done anything to capture them.”

So, after getting NHL’s permision, the choice to use a male OR a female was official. And because she brought this to light, EA even used Lexi Peters likeness as the default character for female. This will definitley be the start of sports games adding females to games such as Madden, MLB, maybe even NBA.

There are now girls in this man’s game

I Love getting an image stuck in my head, and quite honestly this one had been bouncing around in my attic for a while. Especially when people ask how I like my coffee.

Black as my soul? or If you happen to be able to brave the horror, i would truly enjoy some R’lyeh Roast, Black as the Abyss and Thicker than Ichor if you don’t mind. and hey… even if you do. Throw some extra tentacle in there if need be.

Way back when, you know in times of latin and stuff. Well at least before Times New Roman, and definitely before Helvetica, typographers had a problem. When they wanted to show someone a new typeface, or work out layout on a design people kept focusing on the content of the type on the page.

So sometime in the 1600′s typographers and Proto Font Nerds threw down some Faux Latin, cobbled together pieces of an old manuscript () and created the first Lorem Ipsum.

Now we know just how far down the road to damnation they lead us. Thoe misaligned words were actually part of the black speech and in 2011, after chants of Lorem Ipsum and its ilk have gone on for centuries, unfettered. They have given rise to the true language of the undead. Zombie Ipsum… now with 50% more brains!

Now this is a neat design. If the Justice League were to be around during the western days, I think names like Billy the Kid and Jesse James, would have no meaning. An artist, by the name of Ten Bandits, has designed the founders of the Justice League of Americas, as if they were in the Wild West. Most impressive. Personally, I think Bryce “Black Bat” Wayne and Juan Juarez “The Mexican Manhunter” are the best looking ones.

Wacom has done it again, They have found a simple way to convert a tactile, and personal media such as sketching and convert it to a digital file. I love my wacom tablet once set up correctly it makes creating digital files with the skill i have worked to develope. But it only lasts as far as the USB cord can reach

The Inkling clips onto your sketchpad, and allows you to sketch anywhere, only downloading the results once you get back to your machine. seriously it unchains you from your laptop, and from power constratints and allows you to sketch anywhere. Awesome.

As a big fan of the Legend of Zelda franchise, I know that whenever Nintendo wants to celebrate one of the releases, something always turns into gold. The original Nintendo had the gold cartridge, Gameboy had the gold handheld GameBoy, N64 had the gold console with a gold controller. So it would only be right to celebrate 25 years by bringing out the gold.

As part of the 25th Anniversary of Legend of Zelda, Nintendo will be showing their celebration by releasing “Skyward Sword” with a special bundle pack. On November 20, along with the game, you could also get a gold Wii controller and a Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony Concert music CD.

For $69.99, the 25th Anniversary bundle can be yours. If all you want is the game, it will be just $49.99. Personally, I might have to go the extra $20. You can also check out Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary website, and check out some the cool features.

I am a huge fan of Tolkien’s World. Middle Earth is unique amoung fantasy worlds in that it lives and breathes. It has a history, linguisitc and mythological. The Hobbit was an introduction, The Lord of the Rings was the Poetic Edda, the culmination of years of study into a world that was growing organically inside the master’s mind.

Benjamin Harff has a similar sickness to my own. he seems to love Tolkien’s works to the point were he based his Senior project in art school on an illustrated recreation of the Silmarillion.  Benjamin studied the same books that inspired Tolkien in the realm of calligraphy, and tried to produce an unrivaled volume of the Silmarillion, hand drawn calligraphy, and hand bound. The text of the book as a whole is printed but only to meet the deadline of 6 months for him to turn the work into his professors.

This is the only volume of its type in the world, and he has been unable to make contact with the  Tolkien estate to work with them on a wider release. I hope that happens. Read an Interview with Benjamin Harff, upcoming Tolkien illustrator and creator of the Edel-Silmarillion for a better idea of what he was thinking during this long process and to see even more pieces.
