Warp Pipes, not for the faint of heart, now if you have a fan’s mind and a kiings wallet a 34.99 mug might seem like a good idea to you. I love the design and the fact that you get one of 4 molded coasters is a great find, but 35 bucks a lot of coins to collect for one mug.
Now the real dilemma, awesome Mario Pipe mug vs Budgetary constraint, worse than any possible koopa.
I love design, especially good design. And Apple has been a part of some great design in the past 30 years, other times not so much, I’m looking at you one button mice, and puck mice. But their logo has always been beautiful (although I am partial to the older multicolored one) But i was surprised just how well designed their logo is. It is a study in the golden rule, nay a graduate study in its use in design. This makes me want to layer the grid on the left onto some of my work to see just how close my eyeballed versions of design match to true perfection.
So as a form of homage to the beautiful bits of design Steve Jobs helped bring into the world, either by his singular vision, or the culture he created I’ll just leave this here.
It is amazing what people do to show how much they are a fan of something. Many devote their lives just for you too see how much they enjoyed a book, a novel, or someone famous. In Montana, this is exactly what Steve and Christina Michaels did. They are so much of a fan of Lord of the Rings, that they recreated of a minature Shire, complete with a cave entrance and a troll house. The only thing missing is Bilbo Baggins himself
After spending $410,000, the Michaels are only missing a couple of hobbits to complete the Shire collection. And for $245 a night, you can experience such a treat. Although, this place does have some accomodations of today’s society, including Wi-Fi, HDTV, and XM Radio.
Here at Caffination.com, we are all about the lemons. Over at Snorg.com, you too can show how much appreciation you have for combustible lemons. With the “Burn life’s house down” t-shirt, you would make Cave Johnson very proud.
You’re going to need some parts and pieces first. But a tool for any well heeled Ninja is a Smoke Bomb. And this wonderful video from Kip Kedersha will show you how its done. The Kicker Tea Tumbler is an interesting idea for tea consumers. The premise is simple enough. Drop in loose tea, Of which i am a huge fan, and then top it with boiling or near boiling water. cap it off and enjoy.
The strainer at the top of the clear tumbler allows you to sip with reckless abandon. And While I like the idea in theory I have a couple of design suggestions for the fine folks at Kicker Studio. Not Glass, in fact anything but glass. while pretty this thing will shatter when it’s lovely shape is dropped. this is a travel mug, you could go with glass lined clear plexiglass and be ok.
The technology in the thing is pretty cool, hourglass style flip on one end to infuse the tea, flip on the other side to drink with a lovely timer located in the end cap. I’m not convinced that the tea basket will provide adequete infusion however. Tea balls are immersed in the water and the IngenuiTEA, from Adagio has a mesh screen for a housing. The design seems to lack the flow to make good tea.
I do laud them for coming up with a wonderful system as a whole. And overall I love the design and I really do hope to see this in the Tea World some day.
If you were like me, you would always hear the phrase, “No skating in the house!” With a house built for skating, what would parents say?
In Malibu’s Las Flores Canyon section, in California, a house is being constructed for the purpose of skating. The idea was given to architecture, and author of “Air Architecture”, Francois Perrin by Founder/CEO of Soul Technology Inc., and world-renowned skater Pierre-André Senizergues. The name of the house is “PAS”, is in honor Pierre, who will be the occupant of the home.
The house, when finished, will be measure at 2,200 sq ft. and will have virtually no corners. It is considered a skaters dream house. It will have all the rooms a normal house would have: master bedroom, kitchen, and lounge. All the interior furniture, which is designed by Gil Le Bon Delapointe, will be skateable. The furniture will come from the Skate Study House collection.
Who hasn’t wanted to throw in a couple of hats for the kids after polishing off Ye Old 96′er? Well take the world of eating challenges, loving blend them with a helping of geek culture and you get Steven Anderson’s beautiful works. All available as actual T shirts on Red Bubble!
Nice Work! My favorite would have to be the Eye of Sauron gag, if you don’t get it, ask a friend.
If you have ever wondered what it would be like to see yourself as a doll, now you have that chance. CloneFactory, based in Japan, is giving people the opportunity to create a doll resembling the customer. After a digital composite, the company is able to make the doll any way you would like, with outfits to go with it. They will even give your doll an expression. It is a little pricey to have this done for you. For a high cost of $1750, you can have a scary resemblence of yourself turned into a doll.
Danny Choo, director of and presenter of Culture Japan, took this oppurtunity to get a doll made of himself. After a few days, he had his doll, which was dressed up like a stormtrooper.
Will Wagenaar, has a gift for making art from Scrap. You can find his beautiful brand of art of at Etsy, where he goes by reclaim2fame. His creation Brenda is shown here as an evil little robot, built entirely from left over parts
He also has a fantastic assortment of other robots at his call. How awesome a job would it be to create robots all day long? For one thing you would always have friends. And on the other hand if anyone ever wronged you your friends could become your tiny little army.
This little fellow is called harry! I like Harry. WIll definitely has a heap of talent, and eye for what scrap to save. My problem is that every-time I try to make something like this it usually ends up being a pile of junk. It isn’t just what you save but how you arrange it.
How do two geeks show their commitment? Well if you aren’t Irish a Claddagh ring probably wouldn’t work for you. And no one is really using Fede Rings anymore. However when two geek hearts beat as one, a LEGO variant on the same sentiment is a great Idea! At 125 dollars they seem right on point as they are Sterling Silver, and mighty spiffy looking at that. RubyGirl did a fantastic job with these rings. and the funny thing is that the sand casting process she uses means 1 brick gets destroyed for each ring so they are unique. Nice work!
I’ll just leave this here. Obviously some type of visual trickery is going on but… forced perspective is a beautiful thing. I’m thinking renewable energy!
This is one way to arrive to a party. Benoit and Michel Lambert, who are Belgian balloonists, built the Darth Vader balloon in 2007, with the help from Cameron Balloons. They make appearances all over the world. You can watch them as they participate in “The Great Reno Balloon Race“, from September 9 to September 11. To make it authentic, The Lamberts will sport their Stormtroopers gear to help celebrate the occasion.
A 26-foot statue of Marilyn Monroe was unveiled in Chicago’s Pioneer Court. It is a recreation of her most famous pose, from the 1955 movie, The Seven Year Itch. The main reason for the staute, according to Zeller Realty Group, is to make people think.
A spokesman for the company stated that, “Paul Zeller likes to bring in things that cause a conversation. ‘They might be controversial, but he likes art that makes people think.” Although he is one to enjoy such artwork, some were not too pleased with the statue. Abraham Ritchie, editor for ArtSlant: Chicago, an art-focused website, wrote on Art Chicago Blog, “the statue was a ’creepy schlock from a fifth-rate sculptor that blights a first-rate public art collection.”
The statue will be standing through Spring 2012. Not to worry though, she is wearing an undergarment.
A day that I wish I could go and celebrate with the hundreds of other fans. Zelda Day is here to be celebrated on Saturday, July 23. Taking a day to enjoy the lifestyle and music of Hyrule, with beer and drinks theme. Unfortunately, it is in Rio de Janeiro. So if you are in the Brazilian city, stop down at Praça General Osório, and show your love and support for the Legend of Zelda.
