My drink is the short espresso (ristretto). After reading this post I decided to time myself making an espresso. I started the clock once my machine was on and warmed up.

I removed the group head, cleaned it, blasted hot water. Then I scooped coffee from a storage container into the grinder. Ground the coffee and poured into group head. Tamped. Inserted into espresso machine and pulled the doppio. Set the doppio to the site, knocked the puck out, wiped it clean and placed back onto machine.

Total time elapsed = 1 min 55 seconds.
Consumed beverage in under 1 minute.

Now had the grind been off (change in temperature or humidity), I would have had to adjust the grind and repeat the process. Then the time would have been just under 4 minutes.

It may be hands on, but there is not an idle second.
