Tonight’s show we rock out the minutia, and hit the nonsense hard, and of course talk about geekery and coffee along the way. More than the past couple of weeks tonight’s show is a real shoestring production. We have things from all walks of the internet jam packed into one awesome show just for you.

It’s been 6 years of doing this show! Thank you for your support

I’m always looking for something to spice up the show, like a fine curry one show is never quite like the next. But after 6 years its hard to see the differences some times. I’d love for people to email in and share what they like and don’t about the show. Where should we be spending our time? What do you want to hear more about? Less About? it’s your show we just host it.

CES is happening, and I’m not there. So pay attention to people who are. Like Norbert! He and the fine folks with TPN, have all the goodies.

Tonight’s show is full of puns, a ton of in jokes and a great vibe throughout. We hit on everything from Mario to Makerbots, we touch on Star wars, Coffee, and of course lots of off beat news and happenings

A Night as Clear as Day!

Sponsored by Puzzle Piece Productions

You would think with as much build up the holiday season has I would have been ready for it? Well i wasn’t in fact the last week leading up to the Holiday was a blur. Buildings moved at work, sling came off, arm is no longer so special. And a lot of work needed to be done. Quite frankly i was done at the end of the normal work day and didn’t write or think after i got home.

For tonight we have a bevy of Geeky things to share, a few fun wrap ups from the past year, stuff like favorite stories, most popular posts, evil chat room antics… All of it. We have a live show once more set to go off without too many hitches. Time will only tell if all the bugs have been ironed out. We are covering everything from Steve Jobs as a doll, to Meteor showers, Coffee and coffee related stuff a plenty and a fun new graphic I have hanging in my window at work. There are a bunch of fun things to talk about so make sure you join us each week, for the Live Taping!

Did you know that the CaffiNation will be celebrating our 6 year anniversary of podcasting? 6 years as of January 9th 2011. Lots of great times and new friends over that time. People like to make resolutions right around this time every year, and I for years have scoffed at this practice, and that really didn’t help things so this year I’m trying for 1600 x 1200 as a resolution…

The reviews are flowing once more, we have a fresh fire lit under my can and a wonderful outlook for the holiday season. This show has some bad jokes some good laughs and some wonderful discussion. All in a nights work. You really owe it to yourself to make the live show. We do our best to throw down a good time!

Shoulder Surgery Went well, but i’m not well enough to pitch a fit… get it?

Sponsored by Puzzle Piece Productions

This has been a long layoff, I lost a whole week there recovering from the shoulder surgery. Still not back to being 100 percent, I lot has gone into the news about 99, or the 1 and a whole bunch of other things on this show we only have one OWS joke, a couple of bad puns as per usual, and maybe a couple geeky references. I gots my arm in a sling, my heart on my sleeve and a chip on my shoulder, you know the good one. So I feel a good show was had by all.

Tonight we touch on the coffee, we hit up the Cartoons, we make fun of some activists and we have a couple of recipies to share. All in all its a good crop of stories. Please forgive the issues with today’s show one of the stories below had an add that didn’t play nicely with the caffination workstation and everything jammed up. I lost the chat room, and we thought until after the show was over that we had lost the audio as well. In fat we didn’t even record video on Ustream! Huge issues all around and we will hopefully have them fixed next timwe. But hey this is a crazy fun show with some good audience participation.

The air has a chill to it. The leaves have almost all fallen. And the days feel right. Coffee means a lot of things to a lot of people, to me it means Comfort.

Comfort
A smooth deep brew
slowly wafting sultry
scents your way

A promise of comfort,
A premiss of decadence

Coffee this good is always just a little bit close to being too good to be true. Coffee isn’t just the beverage, its the experiences surrounding it too. Drink up my friends.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life” ~Steve Jobs

Sponsored by Puzzle Piece Productions

The tone of tonights show was different right up until the time we had to record it. Am I going to spend the whole episode rehashing and talking about it? No, but things deserve their due. And a man as great as Steve Jobs deserves no less than our admiration, respect and condolences to his family. He created a great many beautiful things, some will stand the test of time and others will not. his spirit will live on in the company he helped found and the choices he made. Let us all hope there is another crazy cocky genius in their garage tonight planning to take over the world one shiny gadget at a time.

There is plenty go over.

You know you have a certain theme song in your head right now!

Bah Dum, Bah Dum….

and so on

Its a Shark that appears as you drink, and will eat your face, if he ever gets released from carbonite… or Porcelain. ( bucks is not a bad deal.

I love the tagline, just when you thought it was safe to drink coffee.

So today, September 29th is National Coffee Day!

What does that mean? Well a lot of differernt places are offering free coffee. But I’m taking a different route. I think you owe it to yourself to try and find the best coffee in your area and enjoy it. In fact take a few extra moments to savor each sip of your special brew today. If you love coffee with cream and sugar, go for it, but savor the flavour. If you happen to wander by a cafe ask the barista what they would recommend. Try something new, or go with an old favorite.

Coffee is a Many splendor-ed thing… Seriously though, its the second most traded commodity in the world yet it can be enjoyed from a single farm, or you can roast your own. Drink it with friends, drink it alone, or just drink in the sweet smell.

So I’ll leave you with one of the things that got this site started, my poem

Coffee

Buzzing, bizzing, flying.
Going blurry blinking.
Bomby why so bickery?
Flying through the day to fast to think.
Deep elixir, magic broth.
Rich earth tones of musical nonsensical symbolism.
Floating ore the mind,
Sailing on a sea of soapy suds.
Warm cool draught as a mid fall knight
Charging on a stallion marching on the battle field
A deadly ballet of death
A macabre sense of rushing
ebbing energy slowly stopping

Check back throughout the day as we post some coffee inspired designs.

Crema is produced when the coffee is extracted under pressure.

We have an odd episode tonight. My brain wasn’t fully plugged in, not for lack of coffee mind you but I guess there is a short somewhere. If you watch the video you can actually see sparks I swear. there is also a bonus story, bumbled horribly in the video edition. I cut it out of the Standard CaffiNation offering to save your ears.

The week is a tuneup for Podcamp Philly lots of stuff going on and a few wires are coming loose. We hit up a bunch of fun stories about coffee, tea and snacks. We also look towards the new offerings from Amazon and Apple.

The fine folks at KRUPS  have passed along a couple of fun fall themed coffee recipies. Now I know not everyone likes flavoured coffee or spiced lattes but there are a large portion of people who do. I for one love fall the season, and do try to enjoy a good coffee confection now and then. My favorite part about these different recipes, was that not one used flavored coffee, but all of them turn out tasty.

Fall Pumpkin Latte

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp canned pumpkin
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp pumpkin spice
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/ 1/4 cup espresso

Preparation:

In a saucepan, heat milk and pumpkin until steaming. Stir in vanilla and pumpkin spice. Put mixture in a blender, and blend for 15-20 seconds until thick and foamy. Pour into tall glass, add espresso. Top with a sprinkling of ground nutmeg.
