This year we are rocking out the traditional pumpkin shapes. With time being limited I would rather have two clean looking pumpkin ghouls. Not too shabby for 25 minutes per pumpkin. How do you throw down for all hallows eve?

I personally love making a tall steaming cup of coffee, chatting with the neighbors and dispensing sugary treats, how about you?

What do you do with a gameboy that hasn’t been used in quite some time. You make a zombie, that’s what you do. And that is exactly what artist Donald Kennedy, an artist over at KodyKoala, did with his old gameboy. Other than the gameboy, he also used hands from a Iron Man Monger figure and feet from an Iron Man Mark I figure.

I love carving Pumpkins, and this is the time of year I get to show off my favorite designs. Now Pumpkins don’t always end up what they were intended to be. I started this pumpkin as a Cyclops, but as i started to do the eye ym Son yelled MIKE WAZOWSKI! and I had to go that route. This one took about 4 hours, start to finish. The only thing I was upset about was that Mike doesn’t have a nose, and I had already cut it out. That and the horns fell apart while I was cutting them. Oh well I still think it turned out pretty good. The eye is my favorite part.

Check out the slideshow of the whole process. I used a steak knife, an exacto blade, and a spoon. Not too shabby

With Halloween right around the corner, nothing gets the spirit going like carving a pumpkin. I know Paul is talented in carving a pumpkin, but I have not been granted that gift. However, nothing can beat the carvings by Ray Villafane, an artist for Villafane Studios. Some of his carvings are just amazing.

His work is extremely detailed. He has carved some scary looking pumpkins, as well as some portrait pumpkins such as the Predator, Chucky, and even David Letterman. On Monday, Ray was given the oppurtunity to carve away at 2 gigantic pumpkins, one being the world’s largest pumpkin weighing in at 1818.5 lbs.  So at the New York Botanical Garden, His artwork is on display. It is a carving of zombies bursting out of the pumpkin. What better way to celebrate Halloween.

Fantastic carving job

A carvered Pumpkin, the black speech. I dare not utter it here. But this is a flava flave style pendent if you were to try and wear it around your neck. What does it make invisible?

From the artist…

One pumpkin to scare them all

One pumpkin to find them

One pumpkin to bring them all

And in the darkness bind them

Generally fabulous on a day-to-day basis..

We can only hope that his message egts through.

There won’t be a CaffiNation Podcast done for Halloween for the first time in several years. But I still wanted to share a bit of spooky fun with the rest of the world. Herein is a spooky awesome Halloween treat for all you ghosts, goblins and ghouls.

One of my favorite spooky stories of all time is The Cremation of Sam McGee, by Robert W. Service. I was introduced to the poem by my former Scout Master, Mr Chuck Benshetler. I loved the way he told the story, the inflection he used and there is just something about hearing ghost stories around the campfire that brings the imagination to life.

So as you listen to this poem, close your eyes… Imagine sitting on a cold night, blanket huddled close around your shoulders. The front of you is warm and cozy but your back is facing the cold night. Where every slight breeze brought a little chill down your neck. In front of you the dieing embers of a once great campfire are slowly loosing their light and the heat is dimming just a bit. You can feel the icy fingers of the night air reclaiming their territory on the front of your body.

Before you stands a man regaling this tale, mostly standing in silhouette, he paces back and forth telling you this tale. I don’t know how many times as a boy i sat round a campfire just like this with the silhouette being Mr B. If i can share any little bit of that experience with you, then I’m happy. Enjoy the poem. And if you end up liking it as much as I do you can always snag a copy for yourself.

Thank you for Listening, and Have a Happy and Safe All Hallows Eve.

Today’s Show: Halloween, Samhain, Pumpkins, Geeks, Freaks and Makeup

Tonight’s episode is hopefully the last show I need to pull this late in the night for a while. Mother Nature and Major League Baseball conspired to extend my season even further.

But Seriously. I’ll post a real tribute in the proper location over at the traveler’s mug when i get a chance, but I am literally beside myself right now. The city is electric and this show will be fantastic. I’m going to be heading to the Parade down Broad Street tomorrow and enjoying every second of it, Plus… Its Halloween!

Back to the schedule, but not yet full health. Politics are once again leading the scene in the nation. So we figured everyone no matter your affiliation was tired of prepared speeches, thanking people for their questions and bickering. So this episode is Politics free, as most of them are. We cover some great ground in Technology news, and Caffeine and Food Culture.

Today’s Show: Video Games, Halloween, Coffee, branding, recipes, burgers

Dedicated to My Aunt Mary, Who Loved to tell stories. We have a lot of great news and a few fun stories in this show. Hopefully you’ll enjoy the episode as it is. I’ve been fighting through some nasty allergies the past couple of days so my voice isn’t as clear as I like it to be but the mind is still sharp. Lots of content stretching from my adventures cooking to the crazy contraptions some people would consider flying around. Stay tuned and stay caffeinated!
