One of my biggest problems with eBooks was that the act of sharing a book with a friend was lost, Libraries would cease to be a place were you could borrow an adventure or rent a thriller.
Amazon’s Kindle is a huge gadget, it does one thing and does it beautifully. It allows you to read books. A great many people i know spend more than they intend on books through the Kindle just because it’s so easy. And that is what Amazon wants!
However Amazon is throwing down some serious game here. They are allowing Libraries to purchase multiple copies for Loan, from the library website. So the book has a built in expiration date, which you can renew or even purchase. So you get to help the library and you get to try before you buy. And unlike most libraries i know you can annotate the rental, and when and if you choose to buy your notes are passed along. This is awesome.
The nook has apparently had a very similar system in place for quite a while. I am personally holding out for the Amazon Tablet, but this is mighty tempting.

First off happy Mother’s Day to everyone out there responsible for bringing life into this world. Today’s show is special because i shared it with my mother. We set up a time and sat down and recorded the whole thing this past week. If you listen closely you can also hear a the background noise that is my son playing in the studio.
I’ve never had a co-host on the show before so this was a learning experiance. The mobile lair for the caffination needs a little tweaking before the sound quality is as good as the episodes produced regularly but I look forward to trying more on the spot recordings. I’d like to thank my mom for taking time out to spend discussing geeky things and trying to embarrass me.

Today’s Show: Weather, Lego, Silly Putty, Coffee, Kindle 2, Retro, Steampunk, Geneva Convention, Yerba Mate, Popcorn, Weddings, and Cancer
This show has some absolutely great content from pressing issues on the Internet as a whole to some fun new designs working on old problems. One thing that always gets me is when people put enough effort into a product or a design and just miss the finishing touches, the small bits of finish that really set aside a good piece from a great piece, unfortunately we have a couple of those examples as well.
Over all this is a strong show with content from a wide variety of topics and sources and I hope that the Title and the content on the episode really explore the duality of living online. You are both virtual and real at the same point as some of the stories I found are old and new, polar opposites in one combination or just a perfect match. The entire day around the Caffination Lair has felt like it was waiting for something exciting and something fun, I’d like to welcome you to that exciting and Fun event right now.

Today’s show is a bit off kilter from what we usually do. I switched machines for recording and the CaffiNation Lair is quite silent right now. The correct way to record is to isolate any extra noise, so this is the closest i’ve had yet to perfect conditions. Great content from front to back a bit of serious in the middle. We are recovering from a long weekend of family fun and work.
