Only you can make this show work

SO apparently the snow and housework has taken a huge toll on my available energy. So the show has also had its worst month of episodic breaks in quite some time. I’ll make sure that this is the end of such shenanigans.

Any podcaster worth his salt or his shovel would have dug out and continued on. But apparently being stuck in the house for long periods of time with not much to do struck a cord in our family and we started a project. Hanging our new TV on the Wall, including cabling the beast behind the wall. If i felt comfortable that i Did it the right way I would have written it up as a wonderful how too, I still might. But this house is such that no good intended project goes unpunished.  So we’ll give you a rundown on that was well.

Delayed taping but not dampened spirits

Switching to 11 pm eastern time for the live show is already paying off slacking dividends. It allows me enough time to actually research for the show last minute after the house calms down for the night. But always leave room for messups when dealing with computers! A truth that eluded me tonight.

One “Oh Poopy” erases ten “Atta boys”… this week in work has been rough. Trying to get new tech to work with old software is not even close to being the cat or its pajamas. But press on we must.

Tonights show has a good mix of both sections. We go from how social media is effecting change in earthquake ravaged regions of Haiti to talking about the Universities being forced to pull Kindles. On the lighter side we discuss the evils of flavored coffee, dirty decaf, and  some awesome eating utensils for kids.

Cornucopia of Awesome, A bundle of geeky cruft, and a long winded podcaster

I’m sitting here hoping that it stays this way but at this point I’m the last man standing in the house health wars. Both the wife and the boy are under the weather, but the boy is probably directly related to the sleep he is or isn’t getting. Had just enough energy to put the finishing touches on the lair. only a couple more photo’s to print and hang and we’re good to go. Its been a long road.

In the world of technology we’re fast approaching Cyber Monday, the day we are told a ton of online shopping occurs. While i detest the inflated holiday rush to spend, i’d much rather support a day where no one gets crushed under the weight of a doorbuster sale.

Today’s show has a hodgepodge of crazy news but a strong retro vibe is definitely rocking the internet lately. We’re frequently referencing much simpler times, the economy is forcing our hand, and is globalization of data, and content.

The news piled up something fierce this past long weekend and since i spent most of it away with family and friends i have no clue what i missed. So find something awesome send it in!

Today’s show has a mix of fun and frowns. While there is a good deal to get excited about concerning our digital future there are also storm clouds on the horizon as they’re always are. The recent Amazon Orwellian kerfuffle has bloomed, some would say mushroom clouded into a larger narrative on the subject of ownership and privacy.

First off happy Mother’s Day to everyone out there responsible for bringing life into this world. Today’s show is special because i shared it with my mother. We set up a time and sat down and recorded the whole thing this past week. If you listen closely you can also hear a the background noise that is my son playing in the studio.

I’ve never had a co-host on the show before so this was a learning experiance. The mobile lair for the caffination needs a little tweaking before the sound quality is as good as the episodes produced regularly but I look forward to trying more on the spot recordings. Today’s Show:  Weather, Lego, Silly Putty, Coffee, Kindle 2, Retro, Steampunk, Geneva Convention, Yerba Mate, Popcorn, Weddings, and Cancer

This show has some absolutely great content from pressing issues on the Internet as a whole to some fun new designs working on old problems. One thing that always gets me is when people put enough effort into a product or a design and just miss the finishing touches, the small bits of finish that really set aside a good piece from a great piece, unfortunately we have a couple of those examples as well.

Over all this is a strong show with content from a wide variety of topics and sources and I hope that the Title and the content on the episode really explore the duality of living online. You are both virtual and real at the same point as some of the stories I found are old and new, polar opposites in one combination or just a perfect match. Today’s show is a bit off kilter from what we usually do. I switched machines for recording and the CaffiNation Lair is quite silent right now. The correct way to record is to isolate any extra noise, so this is the closest i’ve had yet to perfect conditions. Great content from front to back a bit of serious in the middle.
