The sweet sound of Nintendo. A trio of accordion players from Bulgaria have brought the sweet sound of Super Mario to our ears. And it has got to be the best rendition I have heard yet.

Since the beginning of the Super Mario Bros. franchise, which began in 1983, there hasn’t been any kind of complaints about any of the game content in the series. Personally, I wouldn’t think there would be. Well, I guess I was wrong. PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has decided to finally show there concern about a certain aspect of the game. They do not like the fact that Mario wears the Tanooki Suit.

23 years after the first appearance of the Tanooki Suit, PETA thinks it is wrong of Mario to wear fur. PETA stated, “Tanooki may be just a “suit” in Mario games, but by wearing the skin of an animal, Mario is sending the message that it’s OK to wear fur.” Even though Mario achieves the ability of the suit by grabbing a leaf, PETA feels that wearing it encourages animal abuse.

Tracy Reiman, PETA Executive Vice President, ”Tanukis are real-life raccoon dogs who are beaten and, as PETA’s undercover exposés show, often skinned alive for their fur. “This winter, everyone can give raccoon dogs and other fabulous animals a 1-UP by keeping our wardrobes fur-free.”To show much they really don’t appreciate the Tanooki suit, they have created a game called Super Tanooki Skin 2D, where you are a tanuki chasing after Mario to get your skin back. I have tried the game, and find that it is quite distasteful. So wearing the the Tanooki Suit is bad, but what about the frog suit?

After being commisioned to cover an entire train station consisting of  8-bit artwork, Finnish artist Lars Arrhenius went to work. The Thorildsplan Tunnelbana station, a train station in Stockholm, Sweden, was redecoratred in 2008.

The entire station is covered in artwork inspired by early 1980′s Nintendo games. The artowrk consists of Dig Dug, Pacman, Super Mario Bros, and Legend of Zelda.

It is a quite the popular piece of artwork. It has even been used in a video. MadCraft, a punkpop band from Finland, used the creation as a backdrop for the music video for the song NeverAgain.

What do you do with a gameboy that hasn’t been used in quite some time. You make a zombie, that’s what you do. And that is exactly what artist Donald Kennedy, an artist over at KodyKoala, did with his old gameboy. Other than the gameboy, he also used hands from a Iron Man Monger figure and feet from an Iron Man Mark I figure.

Even though none of us here at Caffination are female, or wear any type of woman’s clothing, I thought these were a must see.

These were just a personal project. However, if they were to be sold at all, I’m sure the would be quite the hot item among the geeky girls.

When I found out that not only was there such a place called Nintendo World, but to have The Legend of Zelda journey on display, I was close to fainting. If you were unaware of Nintendo World, it is in New York City, 10 Rockefeller Plaza, to be exact. The whole display is set up on the second floor. Make sure to check it out, I know I am.

When Netflix raised their prices, people were outraged. Many dropped the service, feeling it was too expensive to keep receiving DVDs in the mail. So, to try and get rid of the confusion, get back some old customers, and grab some new ones, Netflix is making some drastic changes.

One of the changes they did to infuriate customers, was splitting up the streaming movie service and DVD-by-mail service. So what they are going to do, is completley change the name of DVD-by-mail service, which will be called “Qwikster.” Netflix will still keep the name, however, it will only be for the streaming videos. Their will also be a change in your credit card statement, but the prices will stay the same.

For me, the best part is what they are adding to the service. Not too long ago, I wrote an article, Gamefly vs. Redbox, that talked about how Redbox started video game rentals. What will be known as Qwikster, will not only be using the DVD-by-mail service, but they will be giving into the video game rentals. Many customers having been wanting this service for years. At this time, there is no information as to when this will start and the price of the service. It is great to hear that they are going ahead and trying this out. Now that Netflix will be doing game rentals, it will be another company to add to the list of companies who give the same service. Since Netflix is a popular name, they might have a better chance of succeeding.

This comes to light after Reed Hastings, Co-Founder and CEO of Netflix, released a statement on the Netflix Blog , explaining the changes that have happened and that are coming. Many comments about this blog are showing disagreement on all the changes. Some explain the problems it will cause. Only time will tell how well this new system will work

If you don’t know, I am quite the Legend of Zelda fan. So when I saw this video, one question came to mind. What the heck is a marimba. After a few google searches I found the answer. As for how it sounds, I think it is beautiful. Especially when it plays any Zelda music.

As a big fan of the Legend of Zelda franchise, I know that whenever Nintendo wants to celebrate one of the releases, something always turns into gold. The original Nintendo had the gold cartridge, Gameboy had the gold handheld GameBoy, N64 had the gold console with a gold controller. So it would only be right to celebrate 25 years by bringing out the gold.

As part of the 25th Anniversary of Legend of Zelda, Nintendo will be showing their celebration by releasing “Skyward Sword” with a special bundle pack. On November 20, along with the game, you could also get a gold Wii controller and a Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony Concert music CD.

For $69.99, the 25th Anniversary bundle can be yours. If all you want is the game, it will be just $49.99. Personally, I might have to go the extra $20. You can also check out Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary website, and check out some the cool features.

So if you are in the Brazilian city, stop down at Praça General Osório, and show your love and support for the Legend of Zelda.

8 bit junkies and gamers of the world unite. This is the bag of your dreams. ell if you dream of messenger bags. Chiropractors of the world probably dream of more practical things. but still you have to admit this is a mighty spiffy bag. Made to look like a giant Nintendo controller so you can relive your youth and carry your stuff.

I’ve spent most of my life carrying around a backpack, a messenger bag or something else to and fro. A place for my stuff if you will. Laptop bags replaced school bags and the amount of stuff never honestly changes too much. The first thing i care about with any bag is durability, specifically the place were the straps attach to the bag, I always end up tearing bags there. So while this bag might be the height of geek fashion I honestly can’t say whether or not it would stand up to what i would put it through. However for only 36.99 it isn’t too bad of an investment in geek chic.

If there is one game that would revolutionize gaming to what it is today, it would be Space Invaders. To this day, it is still one of the most popular games from when gaming began. However, there are some facts that you may not know, so let’s give some facts.

Believe it or not, Space Invaders almost had a different name. The game’s creator, Tomohiro Nishikado, originally wanted to call it “Plane Invaders.” However, because he had some problems with design, Tomohiro was looking for inspiration for some changes. At the time, Star Wars was the biggest movie that was out, and the popularity of it was growing. As soon as he knew which way to go with the idea, he needed a design. That is where H.G. Wells came in. His book, The War of the Worlds, gave Tomohiro the image he wanted. That is when Space Invaders was born.

Although There were plenty of games to play before Space Invaders, they all lacked one thing…High Score. Games would be played just for the fun of it. However, once high score was introduced, gaming became a competition. This would give the gamer a goal, get the highest score. Even today, this is considered the number one reason to continuously play the same game over and over again.

Before Space Invaders, the Atari system was selling at a good rate. However, when Space Invaders starting to sell for the home system, sales for the Atari 2600 quadrupled more than their normal rate. It is considered to be the first of many “killer apps.’

And believe it or not, Space Invaders is being considered to be made into a movie. The only problem, that I assume many see with this, is that there isn’t much of a story line behind it. Although, with how creative writers are these days, I think it would could turn out to be a must see movie.
