Scott Cambell is a singular talent both as a tattooist and as an artist in general. his work usually draws from the regular slightly offbeat world of tattooing and enters into sculpture, and other mediums as well. These pieces of art are constructed out of laser cut sheets of real currency. Having run a laser cutter in our department for about two years this level of detail, control and ingenuity is astounding. This model is not simply the sum of its parts, it isn’t just a 2 foot tall stack of currency cut down to resemble a skull in a box, it is a detail topography built from the bottom up, with each layer you see being a seperate cutting session to create the effect. This is beautiful.
