Updated Stories, fantastic reviews and a well caffeinated evening

To say that I’m surprised would be an understatement. I honestly left the live show for dead over a year ago thinking that no one would ever come to watch a taping of my podcast let alone develope into any sort of community. Now i have people looking specifically for this, I’m both humbled that people enjoy it so much and pretty enthused about where we could go. I’m not quite stoked yet, i don’t think i’ve ever been stoked.

Tonight’s Show we talk about giant LEGO robots, massive man made machines and ghostbusters on the wii. We touch on location based problems with Google buzz and tap into the latest in serious real world problems facing the tech of today. But nothing too serious wouldn’t want anyone to learn anything too quickly now would we?

So its going to snow again, philly averages 20 inches a year we have had 65, the last snow just finally started disappearing and tonight we try to add some more ice to the fire, what a crazy year this has been. Chances and forecasts are looking for 5 – 18 inches in my area depending on your impending doom cast…

A wonderful live show was interrupted by a kid-let waking in the middle of the show, and a house in disarray. Things got back on track but only after a hunt through the bowels of a spare parts box found the mystic universal power adapter. All hail the universal adapter. Its been a long night so please excuse the crazies, unless you enjoy them then enjoy away.

Its an HTTP Error Silly

With last week being off the charts crazy We’rte hoping for a much more sedate and productive week this time around. In that spirit we’ve been sending nothing but positive waves man. Google waves, non withstanding. By the by if you want an invite to google wave drop me a line and I’ll send one your direction.

Tonights show was a fun process, I’m always working on the details of creating a CaffiNation Episode, so from time to time the hiccups in production create a happy accident. This was one of those times, i messed up the machine i use for recording only to find it better set up the new way. Hopefully the quality comes through in the end.

I’m focusing on putting more content on the blog as a whole, updates daily and one off fun news and design stories all week long. Its like a to go portion of my special brand of crazy. However for the random bits of detris and the slightly off color remarks caffination.tumblr.com will still hold sway.

Live show, New Show!

With CES going on there is a ton of information flying about I’m trying to pick up the little but awesome content and relay it on to you. The problem with the tech news cycle is that much like so many other things in life its either feast or famine. Right now I’m pretty sure i missed a couple of courses somewhere.

I’ve been slightly askew in my reading of late, so the resulting show you get is a bit more geeky and more design based than normal. I hope you enjoy these different takes on things. I also showcase a new video i made called Learning from Stupid, its exactly what it sounds like…

I make mistakes and you get to listen, laugh and hopefully learn a bit.I’ve been thinking about different ways to make the show more engaging and hopefully some of them will come to fruition in the short term. Things have been better in the CaffiNation Lair, lots of stuff happening on the personal end, but nothing stops the news. We have a ton of great content literally busting at the seems for this show. I had to actually cut 4 recorded segments out of the show to get it down to 35 minutes. I find anything longer and we seem to loose people.

This episode is called the winding road because i feel that throughout the episode we traveled a great deal across the geek culture landscape from lego lights to celestial bodies, we hit all the high points of the net neutrality cat fight between google and the large carriers as well as touch on some of the great bits of minutia to surface of late. So apologies are in order if you listened to the last show you know by now that we had some minor to major issues with the audio skipping pretty much throughout the episode. I’ll explain what happened and why so you don’t fall into the same trap I did. But all that Aside we’re gearing up for Podcamp Philly and I’ll have some fun downloads in the coming week for you to see before people at the event do. I’m making some surprises that I hope will go over well.

This show has lots of lego love, a great web-comic i just re discovered and a ton of Coffee Geekery to go around. We discuss the seriousness of Net Neutrality, the lighthearted Robot Foozeball, the heretical nature of the Beatles and the sacrosanct nature of good coffee in Seattle. Well I have a full complement of hands once more. typing is a joy, well at least for now. Still working the kinks out of the systems but it feels good to be able to put ideas to paper once more. I can’t wait to share the ideas I’ve been kicking around for the last month. We have a ton of new content on deck i just need to flesh it out and give it life so to speak. The Robot Overlord Appeasement poster is going to rock, the Tech in Tough times articles are shaping up as well. But thats all in the future, today’s show has a host of great links to lego goodness, some fun kerfuffle concerning TOS and the facebook flack, and a ton more content covering all the stuff listed above and more.

I would like to say that even though the Facebook story takes up a good deal of physical space on the post it does not in fact use anywhere near that amount of time in the show. I just wanted to make sure i was able to share all of the great content that was pushed out in reference. While the story is old, lessons can still be learned from the issues it raised.

The dreaded daycare sweep is running through our house right now in various stages with each person. But when it gets right down to it the show must go on. Hello all and welcome to episode 300 of the venerable CaffiNation Podcast. Tonight i decided to mix some things up to give you a taste of history a bit of geeky news and then a look back at some of the highlights you may have not seen. We also announce the contest for the 3 in 3 event. 300 episodes in 3 years… January 9th 2006, i uttered those now, still not really all that famous words. “Hi and welcome to the CaffiNation podcast” Three years and three hundred episodes later we’re still going strong things have changed a bit, hosts have moved and the archives grow fat with their bounty of entertainment.
