We’re having a nice simple week leading up to the forth of July holiday here in the Caffination Lair. Hopefully the weekend will have plenty of grilling and fun with friends and family. On top of all that I’m very excited to start roasting coffee in my house very shortly! Well technically outside or at the very least in the garage, but still I’ve been hungry to get into this field for a while and I’m hoping to have some fun with this in the very near future, details to follow when the green coffee and the popper arrive!
Other than the antici… pation of Roasting is been a relatively smooth week here. So the show has a great feel with lots of nostalgic fun, Legos, Arcade games, a C64 laptop, and so many more fun things have been dug up. Want to try Chunky coffee? I’ll have to explain that.
The CaffiNation is also very proud to take part in the Summer of Podcasts Contest Head on over and check out the shows rocking the codeword this week.
The Holiday weekend is over and we now stare down the long hot barrel of the summer stretching out in front of us. Lots of work to do, things to fix and fun to have. Lets get things started off right with a smooth episode full of great content and Fun stuff
Back channel tidbits over at my Tumblr Blog Grinds
Day 3’s run down. Our intrepid adveturers at CES 2008 Andy and Todd have been pulled to the limit. 12 hours sleep in 3 days does not make a lucid podcaster. but they still can Throw down some damn fine content when called upon. The guys are podcasting live from inside the Zune tent at CES.
Today’s winner is …. MyDreamFlyer. Since the dawn of man people have wanted to fly this brings that dream into your living room. Not quite hitting the par of the 3 million dollar flight sims but this model is fantasy made steel.
So each day at CES 2008 Andy and Todd are going to be rocking out the best of the best they see from the show floor. The have interviewed countless people, culled through the coal laying all around to find these diamonds. These brilliant gems shine brighter than their respective competitors and one shines above them all That is the Pick of the day.
So here are the products featured in order.
TuneUpMedia: Music organization, works with iTunes and sifts your music cruft
Dlink’s SecureSpot: Get a hold of your home network and manage the environment, security, routers the whole 9 yards
Dlink’s Digi Photo frame: Menu options, rss subscriptions flickr streams whats not to like?
Creative xDock HD: Upscaled HD video from your iPod
Alright so after our intrepid adventurers Andy and Todd had but a might bit of rest they venture forth for the day. Here you are going to see a great deal of information about what it takes to Cover CES, from a video logistics standpoint. This explains a frequent question we get, why are there no new videos? Its because our boys in Blue (this actually works since both guys are Members of BluBrry!) are busy making content, the act of pushing said content can only happen in select locations, and the HD reel take twice as long to process as the back channel.
Thanks for the Plug Guys! and make sure you check out all of the other member show on the TechPodcast Network as well
This clip should give you a very real look at what good podcasters do. They sacrifice sleep so that the mail goes through… errr Show must go on? Again we follow Andy and Todd as their intrepid journey continues, into the weeee hours of the morning. Not many people know this but for each out after 1 am they add an e for each hour of wee in the morning… just thought you should know.
Andy McCasky again gives us a glimpse deep into CES 2008 with a very stunning view of the HD DVD booth. Sad times indeed.
Well as a proud owner of an Xbox 360 I had a small vested interest in the format war. But no problem, I don’t own a single next gen disk. I have been burned too many times in the format wars of the past, as I think we all are. And frankly this one seems forced. I can count on 1 hand the amount of movies i have specifically planned on and watched the extra content on. Because thats what this war seems to be about, extra space for extra content. The movie is now secondary. By the way, 3 of those 5 movies where the episodic content for Lord of the Rings, so that could possibly only count as one. The rest i couldn’t care.
At one point in time I was an amateur magician. This is mostly due to my Grandfather adding magic tricks, or “street magic” to his act as a clown… Yup that right the man I’m named for graduated from clown college at the ripe age of 67. So it is with this in mind that I post this awesome video of Andy McCasky talking to one of the presenters from PlumChoice. Not only did the man stay true to his calling as a magician but he worked the company and their message brilliantly into the act. Magic starts a couple of minutes into this.
Each day of CES Andy McCasky and Todd Cochran take a moment to give us a rundown of some of the awesome bits of techy goodness they were able to sink their teeth into. Then after everything was said and done they give us their pick of the Day, an in depth look at what they see as the best product of that day’s coverage.
Alright now I’m a sucker for a good story. What if you heard a buddy removed all the antivirus from his computer, took out the firewall and uninstalled any of the myriad of other safeguard that most people have. He plugged a USB stick into this very same machine and it come out the end of the tunnel just as secure if not more secure than before. Then You’d probably be interested in hearing about Yoggie Security and their Microcomputer on a USB stick, They have a whole line of micro security features plugged right in. It hijacks all of the network traffic on your PC and then pipes the stream right back to your machine. According to the company the performance on your machine actually increases by offloading the security apps onto this little box.
How Much You ask? $99.00 with a three year subscription included. Now that is probably right around the cost of professional antivirus for 3 years, firewalls, ect. I think this bears a little further look. If i manage to get one I’ll let you know how it goes down.
