Traveling around and trying new coffee spots is always fun. Sometimes we visit places in or back yard other times we visit coffee shops as we journey around. I like trying the same thing in every place to see how they measure up to each other.

Of late I have been getting a cold brew, since it’s summer time and adding a separate espresso, my daughter tries different beverages depending on what the specialties of the shop are, and my wife gets some form of the same drink. She likes a French vanilla iced latte with cream or a cold brew with the same flavors. Most places we visit use the same type of coffee syrups, Sorani. We even but it at home, so the only real variable is the coffee.

If the place promises pour overs I might try one of those instead of the cold brew. This has been the plan for years but as my daughter has gotten older she really enjoys these trips and this vacation it’s just been us visiting the shops bringing beverages back to everyone who wants to sample them.

My family likes to visit new places for vacation each year, there is just something about going to a new place and sampling what that local has to offer.

What are your traditions when it comes to trying new coffee shops? Do you get the same thing? Switch it up? Or ask the barista for a recommendation?
