Hello formerly loyal listeners of the CaffiNation Podcast, I hope you’re still out there. So By now you may have noticed we missed two shows in a row… this is bad… very very bad. And something i can’t remember having done in a very long time.
I apologize. I can only offer the bags under my eyes and the nighttime crying, mostly from the baby, up as a panacea for your tech and caffeine deprived ears. I am committed to continuing to bring you awesome content. Hopefully the baby will calm down a bit. With most of the monumental functions for a little while out of the way I can focus on sleeping and enjoying coffee, and recording great shows.
I can’t do a show with lackluster effort, nor content. So If I wouldn’t listen to me I can’t in good conscience record something. I may end up moving to slightly shorter shows for a while in a concerted effort to get the best content and show out as possible. So stay tuned another episode isn’t too far behind.

I Hosted this weeks TPN Weekly, Here are the Show notes below, but the episode is found at Blog.techpodcasts.com
Explaining a show like mine is a bit harder than actually producing it most times. I love coffee so I have a coffee podcast, I love technology so I have a technology podcast. I don’t have much time so I pushed both of them into one show, I never could separate one from the other in real life anyway. Here are a couple great tips from My Show the CaffiNation Podcast For you be successful in both Coffee and Podcasting!
Podcasting:
Coffee:
Hopefully these quick tips give you an idea of the fun and informative content we try to keep flowing on the CaffiNation Podcast. We have recently started a weekly video show as well so make sure you pop on by for that as well.

The Techpodcast network has bee working on a bunch of great things, and one of the most interesting is Techpodcasts.tv, Think of it as a amalgam of all of the different video podcasts on the TechPodcasts Network. Good and varied content front to back and always on. I emplore you to give it a look see.
We here at the CaffiNation Podcast have also been working on a new video idea. We just started Caffination Shots, still hosted at the wonderful URL you know and love, CaffiNation.com but now with more pretty pictures, and some not so pretty ones too, hey I need some camera time ;-) The idea behind this new podcast is simple. 3 short topics, dished out quickly and in a conversational style. Think of it as a espresso shot of tech news, condensed, powerful and nuanced. There may end up being minor overlap between the two shows, and we are looking to drop this podcast every Friday or Saturday, not sure which one would work better at this point.
Rawvice has also been working quite hard to get the Video and Audio content onto as many devices as possible, The Roku and the Boxee set top boxes are really starting to ramp up. Makesure you check out the Techpodcast, and Blubrry apps / channels on each of those services.
So for all around awesome video content make sure to hit up Techpodcasts.tv, but don’t wander too far the Caffiation Podcast is going to keep trying to bring you new and informitave content as often as possible.

So it has been 5 years since i first came up with this concept.the idea behind the celebration was simple, more than any other career choice IT can be learned on the go, provided that there are people willing to teach. I owe my career and my livelihood to the countless techs forum posters and how to authors out there. A degree in anthropology can do many things but teaching you how to run an apache web server isn’t one of them. So this is a chance for those of us with some small amount of knowledge to give back to the community.
I Picked April 15th, tax day to pay your karmic dues as well. The original tagline was Pay your Taxes Pay your due. Teach a Man to Tech. It has changed over time to a yearly theme. This year is Teaching and Sharing Tech, hopefully focusing on bringing and creating more pieces of usable information for anyone no matter their level of expertise.
You can either pick an individual to take under your wing for the duration. Or you can commit to writing a guide or how to on some common topic. Last year I write a guide to improving your blog through good design. Either way blog about it, share your experience, because only through constant sharing can we ensure the next generation of techs have sufficient resources to teach themselves, or at the very least they know who typo ask for help.
Help us combat the image of the grumpy tech, and the cranky helpdesk worker. Lets fill the space with good and helpful content instead. Feel free to use a graphic and drop me a line if you would like to commit to the Adopt a Newb Celebration for 2010, Graphics after the Break.
Tag Any Posts or guides with AaN10 to get included in the summary. You can also link back to this article to provide a directory of currently active Helpful projects

Usually on the night of the Superbowl There is no CaffiNation. Unfortunatly this year not because of a party en mi casa, but rather a lack of the ability for coherent thought. My Brain is fried from a rough weekend without much sleep. So I’m turning in early tonight to give you my best tomorrow.

A normal weekend across the Muller household, CaffiNation Lair, lots to do and we had fun along the way. However Isat down to watch the Eagles loose the the Cowboys yesterday and fell asleep, at 9 pm. I woke up at 1am, and quickly realized that I should go to bed instead of trying to push an episode out at that late hour. So there will be a make up show tonight.
Ok I Lied again… really ot that good at getting things done right now. I’m shooting for resuming “normal” production on wednesday night

With the past couple weeks I’ve had I have fallen behind on many things, chief of which being sleep. And I’m sure You’ve heard that whenever it rains it pours, well the dog has decided to exaberate the problem by keeping my up and ruining the overall quality of the little sleep I have been getting. Read more about it here. Its funny in retrospect, even if I was laughing at the time.
But as is such the show will be delayed by one night, similar to the Episode 376 delay, but with a little forethought to warn you of the delay.
So Episode 377 will be out Thursday Night and We’ll be back on schedule this Sunday.
Thanks for your paitence, and join me by attempting to stay caffeinated!

A short little post about how coffee affects me when I’m sick. I keep mentioning the issue on the show so I figured I’d give a quick rundown on what happens, why I avoid it and my recent find.
Usually when I get sick my throat / voice is the first thing to go. Now for a person whose hobby is quite voice centric this isn’t a very good thing. But beyond that I drink black coffee, which is an acidic beverage and tend to tear my throat up when I drink it. Coffee, and caffeine by extension is a mild diuretic as well. Vocal folds work on moisture, you do the math. I’m not sure if it just plays havok with the mucus membranes or not, but I end up feeling worse for wear after a cup. tea on the other hand doesn’t do this, despite the caffeine.
The recent find was a suggestion by MAS of Coffeehero to give a shot of espresso a try, and you know what it worked! No ill effects on the throat, after I let the shot cool off a bit.Perhaps its the smaller serving size, refined extraction or richer beverage. I don’t know But i know I’ll but hacking up a lung and well caffeinated at the same time from now on.

One of the best things about doing a solo show, ie not having co-hosts is that if the show doesn’t turn out correctly I always know whose fault it is. That also happens to be the worst thing, there is no one else to shoulder the load if I go down for the count. If you remember last episode i was taking care of a sick child, and a sick wife. Well they infected me. I spent the latter part of Friday as well as all of Sunday in a fever induced haze, which has had the lovely side effect of destroying my voice. I thought about doing an interpretative mime for the show… but one quick glance in the mirror made me realize the Internet is not quite ready for that.
I’m rescheduling the show for Monday evening, trying to read three short books aloud to my son tonight was torture, but a wonderful pain at that, It also made me realize bantering on for 30 minutes about tech and caffeine just wouldn’t happen. So I apologize for the second such delay in a single month.

Hello All,
I hope your holidays are going well and the season is treating you right, So far things have been going quite swimmingly however I seemed to have come down with a head cold. Deep in the throws of no small amount of Sneezing, coughing and feeling like i do i decided it would probably be better for everyone if i put the show off tonight, better for me to get some sleep and better for your delicate earlobes. Thanks in advance for your understanding and I’ll see you all Monday night.

Greetings,
Returning home from work today i had every intenton of starting the show right on time at roughly 10PM. However my body had other plans for me, and i think i should listen. I wasn’t feeling 100% all day something seemed just a bit off, without getting into the gory details I started to get a fever, chills in my 75F house. The whole thing started rapidly and the long story made short is I’m sitting under a fleece blanket right about now, longing for the sweet release of sleep. While I could soldier on, and I have in the past. I think the best thing for both my body and my family, and quite frankly your ears at this point is to bag the show for tonite. I’ll try again tomorrow, same bat channel and hope the feeling has past.
Thank you for your understanding and you continued support for the CaffiNation Podcast, I entreat you to check out some of the Recent articles that I have written. They will be discussed at length on the next show. Thanks for understanding and Stay Caffeinated.
~Paul

In the spirit of the Adopt a Newb Day 2008 celebration which is fast approaching I wanted to answer a frequent question I get asked . And I might ask the same of you. What do you get out of Social Media, and Social Networking sites, and how can they help my (insert podcast, blog, dairy farm)? It is a very valid question for the amount of time I spend on twitter, checking myspace, facebook and anything else where you can friend someone? It is a very valid question, and surprisingly it doesn’t have a simple answer. This article also sprung from a recent article by Chris Penn concerning the value of social networks when compared to choosing a school based on its name.
