We find ourselves with a ton of news and only so many hours a day to read it all in. The reviews are flowing once more, we have a fresh fire lit under my can and a wonderful outlook for the holiday season. This show has some bad jokes some good laughs and some wonderful discussion. All in a nights work. You really owe it to yourself to make the live show. We do our best to throw down a good time!

Shoulder Surgery Went well, but i’m not well enough to pitch a fit… get it?

Sponsored by Puzzle Piece Productions

This has been a long layoff, I lost a whole week there recovering from the shoulder surgery. Still not back to being 100 percent, I lot has gone into the news about 99, or the 1 and a whole bunch of other things on this show we only have one OWS joke, a couple of bad puns as per usual, and maybe a couple geeky references. I gots my arm in a sling, my heart on my sleeve and a chip on my shoulder, you know the good one. So I feel a good show was had by all.

Tonight we touch on the coffee, we hit up the Cartoons, we make fun of some activists and we have a couple of recipies to share. All in all its a good crop of stories. Please forgive the issues with today’s show one of the stories below had an add that didn’t play nicely with the caffination workstation and everything jammed up. I lost the chat room, and we thought until after the show was over that we had lost the audio as well. In fat we didn’t even record video on Ustream! Huge issues all around and we will hopefully have them fixed next timwe. But hey this is a crazy fun show with some good audience participation.

This week has school starting, for some. And for the rest of us involved in the Education field we are scrambled. Like so many eggs… Picture your brain, and your brain on stress thats what we have right here a good old brain omelette. We had a bit of fun with a little shake rattle and roll, I’m going to go ahead an call it a geographical shout-out to our left coast listeners. Friends, please bear with us on this episode. It may not end well.

There is a blog dedicated to the travels of quite possibly the most awesome  lunch Box ever. Everyday we get to peek into the deep dark recesss of a Blue Lego brick to see what Vesselina Tasheva has for lunch.

There is even a chance to be a guest lunch box, which as a concept is quite possibly the coolest guest posting option ever… Now i just need a Lego Lunchbox… Who would have known that such a bit of awesomeness existed.

Word of caution, people who constantly complain about social media being used to post pictures of food should look away.

Audio Issues Abound, Apologies all around

This week was pretty mild. Not temperatures mind you but the news just seemed to be lacking. Maybe it was all the political nonsense going on. Maybe it was the summer slowdown we usually hit in August. But whatever the reason we were still able to pull enough awesome content out fo the internet to share with you!

On one hand we have preening Internet celebrities, on the other hand a company who wants to make money and be taken seriously. Who wins? Why the pundits of course.

How do two geeks show their commitment? Well if you aren’t Irish a Claddagh ring probably wouldn’t work for you. And no one is really using Fede Rings anymore. However when two geek hearts beat as one, a LEGO variant on the same sentiment is a great Idea! At 125 dollars they seem right on point as they are Sterling Silver, and mighty spiffy looking at that. RubyGirl did a fantastic job with these rings. and the funny thing is that the sand casting process she uses means 1 brick gets destroyed for each ring so they are unique. Nice work!

Lego people are a strange breed. Forever trying to imagine a world in scale. Minfig scale! First there was Kevin Walter and his LEGO Barad-dûr, Then it comes out that his fantastic creation is actually part of a massive collective work, called the Fellowship of the Brick, which recently took home first prize at Brickworld 2011. Collectively Chris Phipson and the others invoved attempted to create the entirety of Middle Earth in Brick scale.

Can’t see if the Balrog in Moria had wings or not… these are important things you know. Massive undertaking, and insanely awesome all at the same time!

We have seen Lego Art, LEGO sculpture, wonderous Constructions and Lego Murals. But up until now the LEGOs themselves were the art, or possibly a video if the lego was part of an animation. The piece itself was also a singular entity, its not like you can take a replica home without a massive amount of effort on your part. Enter a new player in the world of LEGO art.

Lego letterpress. Samuel Cox and Justin LaRosa the team from Physical Fiction have worked together to make a different type of type. Letterpress involves rolling ink onto blocks of wood, object or other shapes to create a work in relief. In this style the objects are LEGO and the result is fantastic. But judge for yourself. These brick’d up pieces of art are beyond awesome in my book. I wonder what the world has next for LEGO?

Lego Creations just keep growing, and getting more cool features. Today’s view into the Brick Life (Seriously if that becomes a reality show title I want a cut) we had the madcap bits of awesome assembled by Marshal Banana… and has nothing to do with Monkeyshines.

Marshal put together a 10,000 piece Motorized Lego Sandcrawler, with a working ramp and working lights. It took over 9 months and is detailed both inside and outside. This is a kind of crazy I can get behind! At over 96 cm long, and weighing in at 20kg this is a Big lego model!

Ben Caulkins is insane, but in the so awesome at things you have no other way to describe it insane. The man must eat sleep and breath bricks. Because he fashioned a life size full scale Master Chief Costume out of legos. Apparently he wanted to be a grey spartan, no Green for this guy. With very few non lego pieces used, including obviously the visor. He managed to craft the entire wearable sculpture .

Is there anything lego can’t do? To be fair i would have thought the bottoles would work out better if they were square… OOOO and if they could clip onto a pegboard, or a baseplate. Imagien a car accessory kit built on the concept of being able to attach to a baseplate. Nothign would ever move in transit…

These spiffy bottles are available for£9.99 from Firebox

So what do you think is this a good implementation of Lego lifestyle or not?

Playing it fast and loose with technology and coffee news

Every once in a while I get a bit down in the dumps about the site, or about the feedback. It didn’t last long this time. I had a friend start asking me about his website and how to get it up and running a half hour later when i realized I’d been talking that long I sort of figured out I know a heck fo a lot more than i give myself credit for. And most of it has been because the fine readers and listeners at The CaffiNation have allowed me to play around with minor details of the show and the site without too many fires and riots. It’s been a great ride.

Back on point and a bit disjointed. There are plenty of off the wall crazy stories to tell for this week, so the challenge is going to be keeping the spice flowing. Gotta hit each target and move on. Content from everybody mixing to create one lovely brew delivered direct to you.
