The Wings of Nature Espresso Coffee Bars are a new type of snack bar on the market right now. They are gluten free, with no trans fat, and have no refined sugar added to them. That’s all well and good but how do they taste?

This is where all products get truly judged, if it doesn’t taste good then there is no reason to go any further. These bars taste great. I was worried that they would be overly sweet, or syrupy. But they are just the opposite in fact. much more savory with notes of  raisins, dates and other dried fruits.

I was expecting something a bit different when I first bit into these bars, they are not overly sweet. My first taste of it was a deep, rich coffee and cocoa taste with a bit of nutty overtone. I didn’t end up tasting the  raisin  until much later in the bite, Overall a very good snack.

The Company describes the bar like this. After eating the bars it sounds spot on to me.

Espresso –  The rich flavor of  Espresso  and Cocoa comes from the mixture of real organic coffee beans, nuts & raisins blended with organic Agave syrup and organic brown rice syrup sweeteners.

As a small aside if you have ever had Arabic Candy or confections, like those sweetened with sesame seeds. These bars taste very similar to that type of subtle sweet and savory combination. Another close comparison might be baklava.

These bars are also quite moist without being syrupy. I would consider them an excellent addition to any backpack.

Notes: The ingredients list espresso  flavor  as a part of the whole, as someone who enjoys a good espresso I understand that people sometimes use the term as a  substitute  for Coffee  Flavored, but as the name of the product had both espresso and coffee I was confused. Espresso is a way to brew coffee beans, not a  separate  flavor, but marketing speak aside this did in fact have a very good coffee taste to it.

Cost: The only  way I  have seen the price listed is $31.99 for a case of 24, I would like to see a way to get  individual  bars from the manufacturer as well. They are quite tasty but I don’t think I could eat a whole case of them. Hopefully  for us other resellers have taken it upon themselves to break the case up and sell them to hungry people like myself.

Conclusion: Its always a good day when you have someone offer you a chance to sample something having to do with coffee, however this is the first time I’ve ever been offered a chance to try something tasting of coffee but without the caffeine.

I loved these bars. I’m not someone who has a sweet tooth so, an overly sweet candy granola combination would have turned me off, however these bars were very tasty, and filling.
