We're having a nice simple week leading up to the forth of July holiday here in the Caffination Lair. Hopefully the weekend will have plenty of grilling and fun with friends and family. On top of all that I'm very excited to start roasting coffee in my house very shortly! Well technically outside or at the very least in the garage, but still I've been hungry to get into this field for a while and I'm hoping to have some fun with this in the very near future, details to follow when the green coffee and the popper arrive!

Other than the antici... pation of Roasting is been a relatively smooth week here. So the show has a great feel with lots of nostalgic fun, Legos, Arcade games, a C64 laptop, and so many more fun things have been dug up. Want to try Chunky coffee? I'll have to explain that.

The CaffiNation is also very proud to take part in the Summer of Podcasts Contest Head on over and check out the shows rocking the codeword this week.

As a family we found ourselves with a rare free weekend and enjoyed the heck out of it. So today's Caffination is suffering from the good kind of tired where you know you've drained your batteries, but enjoyed doing so. There is both good news and bad news for today's show however. The good news is the new dog does not like coffee, the bad news thats pretty much all the coffee news I have for the show. So this episode will lean a bit heavily on the tech side of things. It seems that a good deal of the country was out doing things these past couple of days as the overall volume of substantial news was down.

We'll be covering some current events and how they affected the tech world, Michael Jackson's passing, Iran and twitter. Silly people and conclusions, you name it we'll touch on it. But we also have plenty of time for a bit of silly news and products that happen to have made their way to my inbox as well.

The CaffiNation is also very proud to take part in the Summer of Podcasts Contest, and we'll be giving you the rundown on what that means in the lead into the show today.

Enjoy the show and Stay Caffeinated!

We've been invaded by another animal. not that I'm complaining I love dogs. The newest denizen of the CaffiNation Lair is named Suki, which fits into the food theme we have going around here. Its a bit harder to get an episode together with a fun little dog running about.

Today's show is packed with interesting tidbits, quite a few of which were sent in by listeners. Thanks to everyone who supports the show Either by sending in stories or emails. You're going to find out about coffee breath, Kona beer, Video games, flamethrowers, legos and so much more. We're back on schedule and back to normal so things should be falling back into place shortly.

I'd Like to thank and welcome my Father to the show, the first programmer I ever knew and one of the primary reasons I'm as curious about the world around me that I am. today's show we cover a couple new territories and makes some jokes along the way. There are a ton of great stories that show up in between the hyperlink so i hope you enjoy.

We cover ground from Beer to BBQ, for Babies to bombs and everything in between. My Father and I have a similar sense of humor and this show worked really well as a whole I'm exceedingly happy as to how it worked. Hopefully you'll enjoy it as well.

I'm getting the cohost bug i might start inviting people to share the Caffination with me. Its turned out to be fun so far what do you think?

With more and more of our lives being spent online it a wonder that the erosion of our rights has taken this long to really start to degrade this far. If you've been listening to the show for any length of time you probably know that i'm a fan of an open carrier / content neutral internet. My packet isn't any more important than yours everyone has to wait in line.

Some days its hard to put into words exactly how i feel but basically Censorship breeds even worse horrors by pushing them under the rug. Information wants to be free. But i also don't like it when people climb up on their soapboxes and preach to the heavens, we have a couple articles pointing to some of the real danger zones of policy floating about right now. But we like to cut the drug with funny stories designed to break up the nasty. Because while we all want to save the trees no one wants to feel guilty all the time. This will hopefully turn out to be a light and fluffy version of a rant.

What do beer and coffee have to do with each other? Well besides both being categorized as beverages and at times bookending my day, they have come together in a couple of different fun stories for today's show. They will also show up in a slate of new reviews coming.

But today's show is much more than coffee beer, we also run through facebook URLs, Microsoft news and GPS blunders. As well as a ton of great odd and yet still geeky stories. We also give a rundown of the DTV transition and some local issues, and the sad state of news media surrounding the change.

Also since you can't have a show called Beer and Coffee without giving a shout-out to Matthew Ebel, who has an album of the same name We'll feature a podsafe music track at the end of the show. Its been a while since I had music in the show.

Enjoy the show and Stay Caffeinated!

Due to E3 happening this week there are a ton of news items floating around about video games in general i roll through a general discussion about a couple of things in the industry as well as take a look at some of the cooler announcements. We also look at lawnmowers, peek and Windows 7 and see whats trending in the world of Caffeine.

Overall the show is a bit front loaded, but no less awesome we are running today's episode on a good deal of coffee, but what else is new? Like a Indy race this episode is open wheeled. I'm getting a little tired of the show note format i was using so i'm trying to go off the reservation a bit more with these episodes. Still delivering fresh and new content but not necessarily being tied down to one article on a topic.

Please let me know which style you prefer? Links galore, or freewheeling discussion. I'm probably going to stick with a mix for now.

Enjoy the show and Stay Caffeinated!

The weather has taken a turn for the awesome and I'm starting to feel much better so Its time for the yearly dedicated show to outdoor geekery and good manly grilling, errr... Alright so i never announced it before but each year I usually throw a show out there with a preponderance of grilling and outdoorsy type news into the mix, so this would be that Show.

I am however still in a heavy mental fog, i can't rationalize what i want to do with what I can do at this point. Which is why the episode is some hours late and more than a bit disjointed. Apologies all around and I hope you enjoy the Daylight version of the CaffiNation. Yellow Face... it burns us* Bonus points if you know the reference

After taking some time off to start the recovery process we're back in the saddle with a ton of fun stories gleaned from over the past week of waiting. Surgery went well, nothing but good news, now all that is left is to heal from the process. I'm not allowed to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk, so this episode is dedicated to my wife who is literally carrying the family right now.

This episode could read like a cautionary tale of excessive information and an overactive imagination. But i decided to throw myself into something rather than stress out. So here you have this show. Full of crazy links covering topics ranging from Flamethrowers rubber duckys, legos, to rayguns!

I don't expect to have a shift in the production schedule for the podcast but the episodes could get a bit odd for the next couple a shows. Sit down and hold on. I've been writing a ton of new stuff, poems, stories the list goes on and on, some of them may show u in a different podcast I'm working on.

So this week is going to be crazy. Its a short week for me in work and out. Listen in to get a general idea of whats going to happen to the show over the next week or so. Things are going to be a bit up in the air so we're trying to keep the episodes short and sweet. Hence the title, not only did i not want to take the time to spell out the whole word but its also a perl function/library, which makes it geeky too!

Today's show comes with Homework. I'm always surprised when I speak with people who don't know what TED is. So today's show has two of the most stunning presentations I've seen from TED, you are required to watch them... no excuses, there will be a test.

Huge thanks to my co-host from the last episode, it turns out that was one of the better received episodes I've had in quite a while. Today;s show is jam packed with great stuff from front to back. We have a ton of retro content, both old and new, old made new, new working with old. Sound like gibberish? I promise it will all make some sense after the show. We'll be heading back into the realm of 8 bit games, dealing with new ways of enjoying them, honoring them and playing with the characters from them.

But the show is more than just a collections of memories made current. Its also all about the cool things happening right now, enjoy the Bacon, and feast on the hubris.

First off happy Mother's Day to everyone out there responsible for bringing life into this world. Today's show is special because i shared it with my mother. We set up a time and sat down and recorded the whole thing this past week. If you listen closely you can also hear a the background noise that is my son playing in the studio.

I've never had a co-host on the show before so this was a learning experiance. The mobile lair for the caffination needs a little tweaking before the sound quality is as good as the episodes produced regularly but I look forward to trying more on the spot recordings. I'd like to thank my mom for taking time out to spend discussing geeky things and trying to embarrass me.

Shared with my mom, and delivered to you, here is episode 333 packed with stories and laughs

Its been an awesome weekend. My personal batteries are well on their way to being recharged. Any well heeled geek needs to find a happy medium when consuming mainstream media, so we have all of the back alleys and dark corners covered in this show. It seems that no one can get a break around CaffiNation HQ, I'd like to thank everyone who sent well wishes over the various pieces of social media. Last Friday I came down with the same bug that was working its way through our house, and no it wasn't swine flu.nbsp; So you'll excuse me if this show is a bit more brief. Between worn out windpipes and a tattered immune system I'm not sure what I'll be called on to fend off when the Little man comes back home from daycare or I enter work once more.

The news has been fertile these past few days. Some of the news is sensationalistic, other bits are salacious. Well stick to the facts and give you al the details about the serious problems, and the lighter side of the net as well.

Its been a rough up and down type of week after a wonderful weekend. Thank you to everyone for your birthday wishes, and support. This past weekend I got to meet a twitter friend and discuss the organic nature of the service. I got to have plenty of Coffee and Creme Stout from a local brewery, and i got to spend plenty of time with friends and family. Being that the weekend was as Tech Free as it was, diving back into tech, writing, and podcasting this week has been quite fruitful indeed.

Tonight we're going to dive back into the fun post apocalyptic world of Zombie killing, Enjoy some good coffee and discuss the finer points of tech communication and responses. So it should be a great episode, hopefully you'll enjoy what we're serving today.

Today was supposed to be a live show with some new concepts being put forth. I'm still toying with the idea of doing video, I'm just not sure how to incorporate it into the stream around here. Its never good when the IT Guy, the Computer Guru has to spend hours trying to fix his own machines. So this podcast was the fallback position after the live show didn't pan out.

There are a ton of great stories and blurbs that made it into tonight's show, and I'm thinking that we are going to reschedule the other special events after I have had some dry runs with the technology involved.

That being said the Adopt a NewB day still needs some tweaking. I have Ideas and it might extend beyond a holiday, but I'm asking all of you. What do you think of the concept?

Enjoy the show and Stay Caffeinated!

When you have a fun filled holiday weekend on your schedule, that weekend goes by in the blink of an eye. Today's show is Over-caffeinated to compensate for a busy day. I caught my second wind rather late in the day and I'm riding that wave to the finish line!nbsp; We're going to give a primer on the Adopt a NewB Day Celebration for This coming Wednesday April 15th. We're also going to hit on some highlights of previous articles that have come out here to get you started.nbsp; Besides that we have a rather diverse selection of news some hitting hard, others are meant to lighten your day. We deal with Ethiopian Economic issues and Zombie killing flash drives, Censorship and Beer. All of that in the same show.

So when you delay a show, you over caffeinated the host and you have a ton of content to wade through what do you get? Check in and see!

Happy Passover #38; Easter to all who are Celebrating!

Enjoy the show and Stay Caffeinated!

This past weekend was great as the area started to get a taste of spring, so fishing was had, and eggs were hunted, But the news was plentiful anyway. usually if the weather is bright and shining I have a rough time finding good content for the show, today i was turning away strong stories, Had to sift through a ton of awesome lego articles, great Bacon treats and wonderful coffee news items. Everything begging to get out, every story ready to roll. I hope that this jumpstarts your work week and gets you in gear and armed against the comming tide of work.

April Fools...

It had to be said, but today is a day dedicated to nonsense and all of its silly little ilk. I love April Fools day, not just because of what it represents, but also because a truly good prank takes dedication, hard work and a sense of style. its easy to be mean, and funny. Its even easy to set up prat falls and slapstick, in theory but a truly great prank takes epic effort. Today we salute some which come close, some which fail and some which aren't pranks at all but sure seem like it. Its an action packed episode from front to back so I hope that you enjoy.

Enjoy the show and Stay Caffeinated!

Before I get down into the show I wanted to again mention how happy I am for my good friends Jimmy and Cathy. As they start their life together I wish them nothing but the best the world has to offer, but know that they already found that in each other.

[caption id="attachment_1000" align="aligncenter" width="428" caption="Their cake topper, Guess who sends me 60% of the Lego Stories"][/caption]

Today's show is all about things that make me happy, not really a few of my favorite things but definitely a stream of consciousness show pulled together from stories which struck my fancy, and intrigued me to know more. Sometimes its simply a headline, other times the whole concept spoke to me on some level. I really enjoy putting shows together like this so hopefully that comes through in the final take.

So I ask you to come with me on this fun little adventure as we stroll through he gardens of tech jokes and the glades ofnbsp; caffeinated dreams. A bit flowery of a description but hey its springtime.

There is just so much awesome news to spread around, times like these make you wish you could pause the internet to even the content out over the course of a year. Not only is the Back Channel of the CaffiNation full of new and fun content, but we had to bring back the Quick Hits Section. What is that? Well we have previously had a section dedicated to short rapid fire news blips that I felt needed to be shared but not dwelt upon. Seriously if I gave every story the time and respect they all deserve we could be here a while... And no one really wants that this show is all about a ton of content crammed into a sardine can of a space. Every show you get a 5 pound cat delivered in a 3 pound box.

On tonight's show we have an update with a better source from last show's robo fish story, now it actually makes sense! We also have a couple reminders on what software needs upgrading on your home pc, a great new tech show to listen in on and a ton of crazy content all over. Along with crazy tales of how The land speed record might be broken by steam punks, things to scare your children and friends, a Mammoth lego story and Coffee news and tidbits bringing up the rear. Packed show, which is why its called the Crammed Edition, the Ijustcan'tfitanythingelse edition was a bit overkill. As always Enjoy the show and Stay Caffeinated!

Living in Philadelphia you are constantly surrounded by history, some times you have to look for it other times it is celebrated right in front of you. Its been a great Week here at the CaffiNation HQ, where the family visited the Philly Zoo for their 150th Anniversary, I reported on some fun technology being showcased with The Philadelphianbsp; Museum of Art and we have tons of news both old and new to share with you.

We have stories from the Lego Art world, about robots who swim, and Coffee for eternity. As always please pardon any attempts at humor. The mix on tonight's show is a pleasant blend of old and new with a dash of nutty fun thrown in. So Please Enjoy the show and Stay Caffeinated!
